"Don't Mess With Nigerians Freedom of Expression... Don't test our collective will" - Progressives e-Group tells NASS

The Progressive e-Group has described as barbaric and nonsensical approach the recent agitation to foist a bill that will punish any Nigerian who express his/her views about public servants on social media platforms.

The coordinator of the group, Comrade Wale Alabi speaking on behalf of the group said, members of National Assembly should rather concentrate their efforts on 'how legislative concept could be transformed to political reality and serves as a tool of troubleshooting Nigeria multi dimensional problems.

Wale , "Our group is aware that some senators are gripped by fear of unknown and are threatening Nigerians with bill suggesting imprisonment and outrageous fine as a way to shut Nigerians up.

"We knew the recent moves against freedom of expression were engineered by some powerful elements in the house of senate and it's not unconnected with fear of hiding things been exposed through social media. They should purge themselves of iniquities. Anybody who comes into politics should know he or she has become subject of public discussion. They should expect applauds and pillories." He continued.

Com. Wale Alabi advised,  "the senators should desist from any act which can pitch them against Nigerians especially millions of social media users who have power to blend or dent image within a tinkle of an eye.

He expatiated, "We won't fold our arms and watched some opportunists bastardized the system through which they were brought to power. They should be appropriately advised not to test our collective will. Nigerians expect something important than mouse hunting from the present senate.

Let them centered our legislative apparatus to fix various challenges militating against Nigeria development and growth instead of wasting tax payers money on irrelevant bill." Said The Progressives e-Group Coordinator.
