As part of efforts to revive agribusiness in Ife, Osun State, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has engaged Techo-Quip Ltd, an engineering firm to create an industrial park in Ife kingdom.
Indeed, the park is expected to house equipment that will process raw materials such as cassava, palm kernel, rice, yam and plantain flour, into numerous finished products.
According to a statement made available to The Guardian, the Ooni who met with Chief Executive Officer, Techo-Quip Ltd, Dr. Samson Makinwa before his coronation signed a contract for the supply of equipment in Ile-Ife kingdom.
He said the purpose is to help people in the processing and preservation of different agricultural products and other raw materials into finished and semi-finished products in the centre.
“This will create employment, empowerment and also act as training ground for youths and the entire kingdom in self-employment and development”, he said.
Dr. Makinwa disclosed that his firm would supply all equipment and also train participants on vocations while Ife Business School will train participants on entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.
The Oba who is the Chairman of Techo-Quip Ltd before his ascension to the throne is using his company’s products to establish industries in the kingdom through constant supplies of electricity, water and access roads to the industrial park location.
“This is not common of a royal father in the country. Oba Enitan Ogunwusi is not only a traditional ruler but a transformational, modest philanthropist whom God installed to help his people out of poverty and unemployment”, Makinwa added.
